All New - Now Open

An interesting sight greets visitors to Margate seafront this season, gone is the big wheel from the gap in the terrace after that fire but signs joyfully welcome one and all to the all new Dreamland Fun Park.

Down the slope we go to experience the "New Look"- excitement building with every pace.

The seafront entrance is locked shut, the arcades beyond in darkness. Fortunately there's clear signs pointing to the new entrance.

Just follow the yellow brick lines.

Watch out for the kitchen waste and water "feature".

Through the grand new gateway.

Turn right before you get to the big blue bins.

Not far to go now!

Under the scenic railway with it's wide range of empty stalls.

Oh, it's closed.

Where's the big, bold, better new sign they promised when they ripped the old one down (without permission) and carted it off to a scrap yard in Hernia Bay? Or are those few paltry efforts it?

I wonder if Sandy Ezekial is still as hugely impressed with the efforts Waterbridge have put into tidying up the site as he was earlier in the year?

The current entrance route seems a shame really as this years leasee operator has fitted a reasonable selection of rides into the small area that Waterbridge has seen fit to allow to operate as an amusement park.

I wonder what we'll see this summer on the rest of the site (referred to by Waterbridge as "The Events Area"). Or will it remain empty?

The fate of both the illuminated Dreamland sign and the ugly fence (which has now had it's retrospective planning blocked) will be interesting to follow. Both detract heavily from Listed Structures, but will commercial pressures win?
